Samsung’s latest gadget, a virtual reality headset that utilizes smartphones, was recently unveiled and we believe that this product, the Gear VR, is an exciting new option for video gamers.
The release of virtual reality gadgets that gamers everywhere have dreamed of is so close they can almost taste it. Various technological companies have been teasing consumers with the development of consumer-friendly virtual reality products, but it looks like Samsung will be first to cross the finish line. Samsung, alongside partner Oculus VR, has unveiled a consumer device that converts Samsung smartphones into virtual reality headsets, the Gear VR Innovator. Set for a November release, Samsung’s latest gadget will be priced at $99 and is ready-made for all 2015 Samsung smartphones. This is an upgraded, cheaper, lighter, and more consumer-friendly version of Samsung’s original Gear VR.
Tech specialist Patrick Mahony thinks that virtual reality is going to be more popular and longstanding than 3D technology proved to be. Virtual reality, as demonstrated by Samsung’s Gear, offers a remarkably different experience than does traditional video gaming as it is a far more immersive and intense adventure. Video gaming is constantly increasing in popularity, evidenced by the successful releases of powerful consoles Xbox One and Playstation 4, and virtual reality headsets will be exciting enhancements to the beloved past-time. While Samsung’s Gear VR is currently the best available virtual reality headset, tech specialist Patrick Mahony argues that it will likely not be the best player in the game for long. Mahony thinks that competitors, like the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, or the Microsoft HoloLens, will arrive soon and could be even more impressive than the Gear VR. Gamers everywhere should be very excited about all the virtual reality options soon to come.
